Questions

The questions people ask us first.

Straight answers about adoption in Florida. Don't see yours? Text it to us, any hour.

If you're pregnant

Does any of this cost me anything?

No. The adoptive family covers your costs, including living expenses, counseling, and legal representation. Florida law lets them help with reasonable living expenses like rent, utilities, food, clothing, and transportation through your pregnancy and six weeks after.

When is my decision final?

Nothing is final until you sign consent. In Florida, you can't sign until 48 hours after birth, or sooner if you're discharged from the hospital earlier. For a baby under six months, a signed consent is permanent, so we'll walk through it with you first.

Does the baby's father have to be involved?

His involvement matters, but if he can't or won't take part, that doesn't stop your plan. We'll ask for as much information about him as you have so the right legal steps get taken.

How long is counseling available to me?

Any time during your adoption plan and in the future, at no cost to you.

All questions for expectant mothers

If you're hoping to adopt

What is a home study?

An assessment of your home and family: background checks, interviews, a home visit, and finance and health reports. We complete home studies for Florida families and help out-of-state families find a provider.

How does matching work?

We compare what an expectant mother is looking for with what you're comfortable with, including openness. We always check with you before sharing your profile book.

How much does it cost to adopt?

Fees vary by situation, so call us for current pricing. We'll also point you to adoption grants and fundraising options.

How long until the adoption is final?

Finalization usually takes 4 to 6 months after legal placement. You'll get a tentative schedule at placement.
