Why choose My Florida Adoptions?
We give you adoption education and guidance in a safe space, so you can build an adoption plan that's personal to you.
What services do you provide?
Individualized case management that can include financial assistance, counseling during and after the process, legal representation, help choosing an adoptive family, and adoption and hospital planning.
Are there any costs to me?
No. The prospective adoptive family pays your costs, including living expenses, counseling, and legal representation.
What does financial assistance include?
Under Florida law, the prospective adoptive family can cover reasonable living expenses like rent, utilities, food, clothing, and transportation through your pregnancy and six weeks postpartum. Medical and other expenses are handled case by case.
How do I pick a family?
Adoptive families go through a detailed screening process. You'll receive profile books based on what you're looking for in a family.
Can I have an open adoption?
Yes. You choose the level of openness, from meeting the adoptive parents before delivery and receiving updates or visits afterward, to having no contact. We'll match you with a family that wants the same level of openness.
Does the father of the baby have to be involved?
His involvement is important. If an unmarried biological father can't or won't take part, we'll need as much information about him as possible so the required legal steps can be taken.
When is my adoption decision final?
In Florida, consent can't be signed until 48 hours after birth, unless you're discharged from the hospital earlier. Once signed, it's permanent and binding. If your child is over six months old, you have three business days to change your mind.
How long is counseling available to me?
Adoption counseling is available any time during your adoption plan and in the future, at no cost to you.
