What can we say about other’s opinions of us? Just that….. they are only opinions, not truths. Many times our own opinion of ourselves is not true. Sometimes, we tend to be harder on ourselves than others.
What is a loving mother? One may say, “a mother that takes care of her child.” The ultimate way to care for a child when you cannot is to make an adoption plan. It is not abandonment or the lack of love. It is being very involved in their future and loving them enough to again make a decision that is in their best interest. When you make and adoption plan, you choose the adoptive family, meet the adoptive family, entrust the adoptive family with a child you love very much. You follow that child as they grow through pictures and letters. You know in your heart you did all you could do to ensure they have a fulfilling life. That is love, incomprehensible to some, but love just the same. You are a loving mother.
There will always be people imposing their own judgments and beliefs on us. No matter what they say, no matter what they believe, ultimately at the end of the day, the decisions I make are the ones that I know I can live with. The decisions I make, I know are the best due to the circumstances in my life. The decisions I make, I know are made out of love. You are a loving mother.
